CROSS TRAINING: PREPARING AND PRAYING FOR OUR AMESBURY COMMUNITY –Remember BLESS? Begin with prayer. Listen with care. Eat together. Serve with love. Share your stories. From May 19th until June 23, we will be preparing together to BLESS our community during Amesbury Days. Each week in Cross Training, we’ll be praying for the people of Amesbury and the surrounding towns, then working on the practical ways that we can continue to connect with the people and organizations of our community. We’ll be preparing teams and plans for our formal participation in events like Kids Day in the Park, the Neighborhood Block Party (June 27th), and other summer opportunities. We will also be exploring informal ways that we can get better acquainted with and connected to our community in meaningful ways as we look at the year ahead.
GOOD SHEPHERD SUNDAY PART-TWO- CARING FOR OUR YOUNG HEARTS- We continue to celebrate God’s work among us in our youngest members. Each week, God is working in these young hearts, and He is working through our dedicated nursery volunteers. Join us in giving thanks for all God is and will continue to do through this ministry.
ONGOING SUMMER MINISTRY WITH OUR YOUNGEST- Sheep of the Good Shepherd will take a break for the summer months after June 9th and will be gearing up for continued ministry this fall. This summer, there is a need for volunteers who love Jesus, love kids and and would like to get involved with a pared down (from SGS) children’s ministry as well as with our nursery. We need smiling faces to enjoy music, Bible story, and art with our kids on Sunday morning. Curriculum and supplies will be provided. Email email@example.com if you are interested.
RIVER’S EDGE COMMUNITY GARDEN WORK DAY, MAY 18TH- The River’s Edge Community Garden will be holding a work day in the garden TOMORROW May 18th, from 9am-1pm. We will be planting and adding raised garden beds for our community garden. We will have our Transition Students from Amesbury High School, our ESL students and our High School volunteers all joining us. We would love for you to come be a part of our Gardening Community. We are also inviting you to become participants, not just volunteers, in this endeavor as we reach out as a family on mission to our neighbors. Participants will water and weed (and take part in harvesting!) and make connections with our Amesbury neighbors and friends.
For more info, please contact Patty Champion at 978-944-2475 or Cindy Carter at 987-609-1021
CELEBRATING OUR GRADUATES, JUNE 2ND- Following the morning service on Sunday, June 2nd- we will be celebrating and praying for our ASAC graduates. We would like to make sure that we do not miss any graduates. If you are a recent graduate or will be graduating this summer (seminary, college, graduate school, etc.) or know someone at ASAC who is- please e.mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
“FOR OUR COMMUNITY” DAY OF SERVING, SATURDAY, MAY 18TH (SPONSORED BY ROCK CHURCH)- If you’re not already helping out in the garden, consider joining our neighbors at Rock Church on Saturday May 18th for a day of serving our Amesbury community. Current projects include the Cashman School, Amesbury Conservation Trails, Amesbury Firehouse, Mill Yard, and much more! This a wonderful way to partner with our neighbors in serving our community in really practical ways. Sign-up for specific projects at ForOurCommunity.org. If you have questions, please contact Bruce McBrien at email@example.com.
PREGNANCY CARE CENTER BOTTLE DRIVE- Over the next 3 weeks All Saints Anglican will participate in a baby bottle campaign supporting the work of The Pregnancy Care Center in Haverhill. The Pregnancy Care Center (PCC) offers, loving, confidential support to women who are facing unplanned pregnancies. In addition, they provide sexual integrity education, post abortion counseling and material assistance (baby items/food). The services are free, thanks to support from individuals and local churches.
Please take a bottle home. Then, as a family, fill them with checks (made payable to PCC), cash or coins, and return them to the church no later than May 26. Inside the bottle is an insert where you may list the name and address of someone you wish to honor. The PCC will send a special card to them showing that you have made a gift in their honor.
ESL CLASSES AT ASAC- Classes have begun and are running through June 10th (Monday evenings from 6-8pm). This is likely our last term. Amesbury Public Schools will be beginning an Adult ESL class next fall in the evenings and we’d like to support this effort and recognition from the town. We have filled a void for the last 7 years. Thank you to Patty and her team for their many years of faithful ministry. Stay tuned for other ways that we can reach out to our neighbors!
HELP EMPOWER YOUNG LEADERS- Early this summer (June 17-23, 2019) Fr. Craig Vickerman will be leading over a dozen ADNE youth to the ACNA Provincial Youth Gathering (PYG) being held in Dallas Texas. The Vickerman family (Fr. Craig, Anna, Alethea and Andrew) were a vital part of our All Saints community during Craig’s time at seminary, and now serve at All Saints Attleboro.
The PYG presents us with a direct opportunity to support youth in our Diocese with funds, prayers, and commitment to the constant hope of enabling more young people to follow and deepen their walks with Jesus.
Our vestry has established a “Growing Young” fund in our budget to invest in developing the leadership and discipleship of young people in our church and diocese. We’ve committed $500 toward supporting the youth who are participating in the PYG. Would you consider adding you financial support as well? We’d love to reach and exceed $1000 to bless these young people and to encourage Craig’s excellent leadership with youth in our diocese.
If you’re led to give, please make a check to ASAC, and write “Provincial Youth Gathering” in the memo line. ASAC will write one check to the diocesan fundraising effort.
SUPPORT RACHEL DANLEY- Our vestry is pleased to partner with ASAC member Rachel Danley in her ministry of training and equipping disciples. In the Fall of 2019, she will be entering a three-year doctoral program in New Testament at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland.
ASAC will be providing Rachel with financial infrastructure and oversight in the form of a giving platform (Tithe.ly) and a funds-held account within our bookkeeping.
This will allow those who have been investing in Rachel’s ministry with InterVarsity over the past decade to continue supporting her in ministry in this new phase, while maintaining good fiscal oversight and transparency for her support.
Read more about Rachel’s ministry the ASAC blog posting titled “Renewed Callings” (allsaintsamesbury.org/2019/04/04/renewed-callings/)
